The Directors College Launches New Programs

The Directors College* today announced it is launching three new specialized programs tailored to the needs of chairs, directors and board committee members who want to gain specific expertise in focused areas. The following three programs include a comprehensive national exam and university accreditation.

“These programs are in response to feedback from directors who tell us there is a need for director education that addresses the very specific expertise required by these three committees,” said Dr. Chris Bart, Principal and Lead Professor at The Directors College.

Audit Committee Program (ACC)* will explore the implications of recent changes impacting the Audit Committee including financial literacy, external and internal audit plans, reliance on professionals and on certifications, internal control assessment, civil liability for continuous disclosure and Audit Committee evaluation.

Human Resources and Compensation Committee Certified (HRCC)* will look at topics including the board’s relationship with the CEO, CEO performance evaluation, executive compensation plan design and disclosure, management succession planning and human resource risks.

Governance and Nominating Committee Certified (GNCC)* will concentrate on the key responsibilities of these committees in areas including selecting and ensuring adherence to the right governance principles and ethical conduct, developing a robust board renewal plan and conducting effective board and director performance evaluations.

“These programs, like the Chartered Director program, focus on both the behavioural and technical sides of effective governance,” said David Brown, Executive Director of The Directors College, “they go beyond the rules to leading practice application.”
