THE CHARTERED DIRECTOR DESIGNATION

The Directors College*

Continuing Professional Development

The Directors College* requires that all Chartered Directors* undertake 30 hours of qualified continuing professional development over every three calendar years beginning the year following the year in which the candidate successfully completes their final module of the program.

For example, a candidate completing his/her Chartered Director designation in 2005 would need to earn 30 hours of continuing professional development between January 1, 2006 and December 31, 2008. He/she would then need to earn another 30 hours between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2011 and so on.

Courses, seminars and events that qualify for this continuing professional development program include:

• All specialized track programs offered by The Directors College, including Audit Committee Certified (ACC)*, Human Resource Committee Certified (HRCC)* and Governance and Nominating Committee Certified (GNCC)*.

• McMaster World Congress – Corporate Governance sessions. Held annually in January in Hamilton, Ontario. (up to 11 hours)

• Conference Board of Canada’s Corporate Governance Conference. Held annually in January or February in Toronto, Ontario. (8 hours)

• Conference Board of Canada’s Western Corporate Governance Forum. Held annually in Western Canada. (up to 11 hours)

• Conference Board of Canada’s Corporate Social Responsibility Conference. Held annually in May in Toronto, Ontario.

Please see our Conferences and Events page for additional details on these events.

In addition, if candidates have a specific event they would like to attend as part of their continuing professional development that does not appear on the list above, they may apply to The Directors College management team for approval of that corporate governance event or course. The request for approval should include details about the event and should be submitted prior to attendance.
